Overview

BeautifulPDF is designed with privacy in mind. We believe your ChatGPT conversations are personal and should remain under your control. The browser extension only works on chatgpt.com.

We do not sell, share, or use your conversations for advertising, profiling, or AI training. Conversation data is processed only to generate the PDF documents you request.

Information We Do Not Store Permanently

BeautifulPDF does not permanently store:

• •Exported chat content after the 2-hour preview window
• •The content of generated PDFs
• •Your browsing history
• •Chats or content you have not explicitly exported

Information We Collect

To operate the service, we collect a limited amount of information:

Exported Content

When you use the Service, you voluntarily export a ChatGPT conversation via our browser extension after confirming consent. We process only the chats you choose to send. Preview links include a secret access token; anyone with the full link can open that export until it expires.

Account Information

Used for account creation, authentication, and important service communications. If you sign in with Google, we receive the email address (and name, if provided) from that sign-in.

Consent records

When you accept the Terms of Service or allow us to process an exported chat, we store a record on your account: the type of consent, the policy version, the time of acceptance, IP address, and browser user agent. We use this to demonstrate consent and to avoid asking again until the policy version changes. These records are not the contents of your chats.

Product Analytics

We may collect anonymous and aggregated usage information, such as:

• •Export counts
• •Error reports
• •Performance metrics

This information does not include the contents of your conversations.

How PDF Generation Works

When you choose to export a conversation, the extension asks for your consent first. The chat is then transmitted to our servers via HTTPS and stored temporarily while you preview and generate your PDF. Preview links include a secret access token. Anyone with the full link can open that export until it expires; the token is not guessable from the document id alone.

We use Typst, a professional typesetting engine, to produce book-quality formatting. Server-side rendering with Typst requires keeping the conversation on our servers during the preview window.

Exported chat data is deleted within 2 hours of the last preview update (creating or changing settings resets this timer). It is not permanently stored and is not used for any other purpose.

We do not use conversation content for:

• •Marketing
• •Advertising
• •Resale
• •User profiling

Cookies

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and operate the Service. We may also use analytics cookies to understand how the website is used.

Analytics data is aggregated and does not include the contents of your exported chats. You can change your choice at any time using Cookie Settings in the site footer. Disabling analytics cookies may limit our ability to improve the website, but will not affect core Service functionality.

Data Retention

Conversation data is stored on our servers for up to 2 hours after the last preview update, then automatically deleted.

Account records, consent records may be retained as required for operating the service, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party providers to operate BeautifulPDF:

Supabase

Authentication and account storage. Google sign-in is provided through Supabase Auth.

Vercel

Website hosting. Vercel Analytics is used for privacy-friendly website analytics and performance monitoring only if you accept analytics cookies.

These providers have their own privacy policies governing their services.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Legal Basis (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following legal bases:

• •Contract: to create and manage your account and provide the Service.
• •Consent: when you export a chat for PDF generation (the extension asks before upload; we also store a consent record on your account), accept analytics cookies, or agree to our policies during registration.
• •Legitimate interest: to secure the Service, prevent abuse, and improve reliability, where this does not override your rights.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
